Bought a brand new Seamaster yesterday and over a 24hr period it is running about 3 hours fast. Is this normal? Does the automatic nature need breaking in or is there a fault on the watch. I have an 11-month old Omega Seamaster 300M Professional Co-Axial Chronometer (2220.80.00). Until recently, it was consistently gaining 1 sec/day, which is excellent and well within COSC specs. Now, however, it is suddenly gaining 20 sec/day, which is not acceptable to me (and outside COSC specs). My Seamaster 2501.81 is a chronometer, and it is running -3 sec per 24 hours. It's very consistent and still within COSC range, but it just pains me that it's running slower, rather than being faster, I probably wouldn't care at all if it ran +3sec, or even +5sec.My mechanical watch (Omega Speedmaster Professional) was running fast, at the rate of +2 minuets per day.
The watch is in very good shape with a tiny scuff on the side of the case and virtually no scratch. These watches can't be that sensitive where one or two bump can set it running 5 min fast. Even so, I wouldn't classify that as abuse where warranty is void. Hi, so my NTTD Seamaster is running 5 seconds fast per minute. I noticed it 2 days ago, and I wear it almost daily so there is no way I wouldn’t have noticed it before.
My experience is that if the coil hums, but the watch runs fast, it is due to the index wheel in the micromotor being worn out (given that the fork rate is OK). A sticking micromotor or a problem in the magnetic train will make them lose time. HOWEVER, for the last 2 days now it's running 2 HOURS fast in 24 hours. I just adjusted it last night around 7pm and now at 8am it's 40min ahead. Looking online I would think the problem is it's been magnetized.
