From my personal collection, here is this rare Breitling "Giro D'Italia" from late 50's 38 mm gold .The original "Giro D'Italia" silver dial is in impressive condition for its age, showing expected light aging throughout but no major blemished. The original dauphine and blued steel chronograph hands are in great condition as well, showing only minimal signs of oxidation. So, your suspects can be real but it seems to us very strange that someone worked to modify the dial to insert "giro d'Italia" and didn't write Breitling as usual.
